The SHS project is managed by a Writing Working
Party made up of volunteers from an initial writing workshop for social housing
residents at the Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre in November 2014. Our roles are:
The Publisher and Editorial Committee
- Lisa Smajlov (Coordinator, Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre)
- Susan Hawkeswood (Convenor, Inner West Tenant Group)
- Natalie Star (Chair, Writing working party)
Are responsible for content across all platforms, websites, blog
and newsletters.
- Selecting pieces suitable for publication
- Light editing and feedback
- Moderating comments
- Resolving conflicts that may arise
Blog Admins
- Lisa Smajlov
- Susan Hawkeswood
- Natalie Starr
- Judy Singer (technical advisor)
Are responsible for uploading and deleting content. These roles will be rotated monthly
Who can write for us
Social housing tenants in the Leichhardt Municipality
(Annandale, Balmain, Lilyfield, Birchgrove, Leichhardt and Rozelle).
Authors will be given their own passwords and can delete
their own work.
How to submit an article
Please send your content in an editable
format, e.g. as text in the body of the email, or as a Word attachment. Do not send your work as a PDF as it is not editable.
If you have a blog, send us the url and we will link to it
if it meets our guidelines.

What happens next
Although we are volunteers, we will try to acknowledge
receipt of your submission within 1 week, and give you feedback within 2
weeks. We may do a light edit e.g make suggestions or fix typos etc.
If we haven’t got back to you in this timeframe please do
not hesitate to send us a reminder.
Acceptable use guidelines
These guidelines are to ensure individuals can contribute
their opinions and views as part of an inclusive and safe community, without
being exposed to inappropriate content, offensive language or discriminatory
views.
We will not publish work that is defamatory, or seeks to
humiliate or incite hatred or violence against any individual or group.
Comments and letters
Comments on blog articles will be moderated, i.e. they may
not appear immediately.
Disputes
Any disputes on content will be referred to the Writing
Working Party. The editors’ decisions will be final
Copyright
Authors always retain copyright over their work. We will ask
your permission if we wish to pass your work to any third party. You can delete
your work from the blog at any time.
