History 

SHS began with a series of TURF creative workshops in 2014. It aims to showcase the work of the original participants and to continue to publish works from the broader social housing communities of the Leichhardt Municipality (Annandale, Balmain, Lilyfield, Birchgrove, Leichhardt and Rozelle)

The Social Housing Stories (SHS) website, blog, and newsletter is a project of the Inner West Tenant Group (IWTG), a community group for social housing residents in the Leichhardt Municipality, and the IWTG's.

In June 2015 Social Housing Stories (SHS) was launched at Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre, a project of the Inner West Tenant Group coordinated by the SHS Writers Working Party.
